It All Began When They Said "No."

For years, I followed the rules.
I did what I was trained to do.
I used the best practices my industry offered.

And for many women… it still wasn’t working.

They were trying hard.
They were doing the “right” things.
And they kept ending up stuck in cycles of cravings, shame, and starting over.

So I got curious.

I started diving deeper into biology, neurology, metabolism, and the nervous system. I began asking different questions about why change is so hard — and what actually helps the body feel safe enough to do things differently.

That search led me to nervous-system-informed, neuro-integrative, and compassionate behavior-change models that finally made sense of what I was seeing in real women’s lives.
And that path became the foundation of what is now Food, Body & Love — programs and coaching built around regulation, self-leadership, and sustainable healing, not pressure and perfection.

• Morning sunshine and a walk
• Coffee first… always
• Checking in with my Oura ring (because data and intuition both matter)
• Breathwork and nervous system resets
• Movement that feels supportive, not punishing
• And good skincare that’s kind to my body and my health

daily rituals that keep me grounded

• Guesting on podcasts and teaching     nervous-system-informed coaching
• On coaching calls with my brave and delightful clients
• Making dinner at home and catching up with my family
• Sneaking in movement whenever and wherever I can

YOU CAN FIND ME...

• Shame as motivation
• One-size-fits-all plans
• White-knuckling your way through life
• Moralizing food or bodies
• Hustling your way to healing
• Pretending it’s “just about discipline”

If you’re looking for rigid rules or quick fixes, I’m probably not your girl.
But if you want real, sustainable change — we’ll get along just fine.

I'm NOT ABOUT...

• Straight talk (with compassion)
• Science that actually helps real people
• Nervous systems before willpower
• Progress over perfection
• Faith, hope, and second chances
• Cutting through the noise to get to what works
• Making room for what truly matters

I BELIEVE IN...

Who I work with

The kind of life with more:
• freedom
• energy
• peace
• confidence
• and joy that doesn’t depend on the scale or a perfect week

I believe healing should feel supportive, not punishing.
Structured, but flexible.
Evidence-based, but deeply human.
And yes — we can take this work seriously and have fun along the way.

I work with thoughtful, capable women who are exhausted from trying to “do better” without getting the relief they hoped for.

Many of the women I support:
• have a long history of dieting or disordered eating
• struggle with binge eating or loss-of-control eating
• are navigating hormonal and metabolic changes
• want a compassionate, structured path — not extremes

My programs and coaching are designed for healing, growth, and sustainable change — not crisis care or intensive trauma processing.
(And if you need that level of support, I will always help you find the right resources.)

My superpower is helping women become the best version of themselves using science-based tools and decades of clinical experience — while building the kind of life they actually want, not the one they think they’re supposed to want.

A little bit sweet. A little bit salty.

I’ve spent over 35 years working with women who struggle with eating disorders, emotional eating, and metabolic challenges — first as a licensed counselor and certified eating disorder specialist, and now as a coach, educator, and program creator.

Along the way, I’ve been:
• A licensed professional counselor and eating disorder specialist
• The author of the book and workbook Food, Body & Love
• A presenter at professional conferences and trainings
• A mentor and consultant to other clinicians and coaches

Today, my work bridges clinical wisdom, nervous system science, metabolic health, and compassionate behavior change — so women receive support that is both deeply informed and deeply human.

“At 68, after struggling with food my entire life, I was ready for something deeper. The Course gave me a springboard to real change. Kari makes complex science understandable, and her sincerity shines through. I now nourish my body to live my best life- my A1C is incredible, my blood sugars are healthy, and for the first time, I'm managing my diabetes without medications. It's never too late to change. Kari is a guide to emulate, respect and love.”

It's never too late to change!

I never take for granted the trust women place in this work — and I’m endlessly grateful for their courage and honesty.
